I tried proactiv, it only made my acne far worst but, some of my other friends tried it and it cleared their acne but, it didn’t get rid of the scars left behind by the acne. Proactiv is just an overrated acne system. I have my doubts with murad after seeing some list of the top ten acne solutions and to see it only had 3 stars out of 5. You, can always try it out if you want. Just because something is more expensive doesn’t mean it’s better.

I tried both. Had better success with ProActive than Murad.
But I had the best results when my Dermatologist prescribed the birth control pill Yaz. My skin cleared up. my periods were regular and no more PMS. WooHoo thank you Dr Ghazri!

Proactiv is very effective, but Klear Action is the exact same stuff for half the price- $20! You can get it on drugstore.com . It has been amazing to me- it really keeps my breakouts under control, and I spent tons at the dermatologist before.

My skin sounds similar to yours, I get occasional breakouts but for the most part my skin is okay if I take care of it. I’ve used Proactiv in the past and really liked it although it did tend to make my skin a little dry, something that I think is common with any type of acne treatment. It really cleared up any blackheads and helped even out my skin tone, my skin is great when I use it religiously. I have not tried the other one you mentioned but I’d highly recommend Proactiv to anyone that is trying to clear up their skin. I do NOT have bad acne so I don’t know how well it works for more severe skin problems.

Ok this probably would be the best answer that any one would give, since I have used both products and am a dermatologist in the making lol. It depends on your skin. Start with the cheaper product which is Proactiv or get a similar product from walgreens that uses the same ingredient but is also wayyyyyyy cheaper.. I dont know the name of that product since they didnt have this when I was suffering from acne. Use it for a 2 weeks and then decide if its clearing or not. Dont decide in 1 week because if you have never used high end acne treatment your skin would probably not be used to having high concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide on it. In the first week it may seem your acne is getting worst that could be due to your skin taking its time to adjust to the peroxide or it may be working on your underpores ( small concentration of bacterial activity that remain unchecked can lead to pimple or acne) and making it visible.
I dont know where you live but if you have Sephora store in your town, they are selling Acne Complex for $35 which is cheap. Now the complex is a different solution with Salicylic Acid being there active ingredient mixed with other anitbacterial and acne fighting ingredients. Again you skin could be allergic to Salicylic Acid, but that is rare since more people are allergic to Benzoyl peroxide. My choice would be Acne complex over Proactiv any day. And here are two reasons to prove it.
1) People who used Proactive when it first came out, me for example and found out that they were allergic to Benzoyl peroxide, were given free Gentle Formula kit; which proactiv later started to market. Now the active ingredient in that is guess what? Salicyclic Acid.
2) People say acne complex is expensive than Proactive, well its a little expensive not hundreds of dollars expensive so I would go with the product that I know would have a small chance of irritating my skin compared to B.P that is considered a toxic in its actual form. Oh by the way Salicylic acid is a plant hormone so its natural and is not toxic in its actual form.
But again just like minority of people who are allergic to danders and dust and all that, people could actually be allergic to SA but very few people are.
Lastly, if your skin is allergic to both then you need a prescription medication to treat your problem. See your dermatologist. Thanks! take care and hopefully this info helped you.
